Must Watch: Security Forces Captured BIFF Fighters with 6 High Powered Firearms Including Barret Sniper Rifle

Combined elements of the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police - Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) captured a total of six BIFF terrorists after a one-hour clash at Mangadeg Villge in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao at around 5:30 AM today, July 6, 2017.

According to Colonel Bismark Soliba, the Commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigage, said that the operation was launched to protect the people against atrocities. He noted that the government troops wanted to prevent the BIFF from initiating terroristic actions against peaceful communities.

Among the seized weapons were high powered firearms and ammunition which include two Caliber 50 Barret Sniper rifle, 1 M60 Machine Gun, 1 RPG, 1 M14 Rifle and 1 M16 Rifle. Six suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) members were captured.


The operation was conducted by 33rd Infantry Batallion headed by Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc. During the presentation of the captured BIFF members, Lt. Col. Cabunoc revealed that the BIFF members were reportedly recruiting new members by giving each one of them P100,000 worth of cash.

No one was hurt among the members of the joint PNP and the AFP troops that encountered the BIFF terrorists in Maguindanao. Major Gen. Arnel Dela Vega has commended the troops for the successful mission.
